Lack of Education Or Just Pure Denial of Unnatural Climate Change With Today’s American Citizens?

I don’t know how “conservatives” or the majority of them, without any evidence at all can say that climate change is not occurring in a unnatural way!  I mean the evidence is there where ever you look, and even other peoples from other cultures have oral history that states the same.  Maybe they think because their a different culture that they don’t give a damn, but the facts remain that humans are causing a breakdown of our natural ecosystem where ever you look.  This isn’t about some alleged “leftist” trap hole, I heard that commented by some conservative as well.  Whether it be from peoples oral history or natural evidence all around us, from people getting sick to 10,000 year old sediment, earth core samples or melted thousand year old glaciers…!

I debated one lady who said; “the environment goes through a natural cycle every 70 to 100 years!”

Duh!  That’s not even the point, and I think the issue is WAY over her head!  I learned about the natural cycles of the eco system since grade school, yet I also knew about “global warming” since that time.  We are not talking about the natural cycles that may occur every 100 years or so, and we’re not even talking about the seasonal changes or the changes of drought that we might see every few years.  We are talking about the unnatural climate changes!  Hello!

Not sure where people are getting their education these day’s, but I don’t think a lot of them are getting a full education from an accredited school.  Something seems to be lacking, from science to even basic histories these day’s, and it’s even scary to see our leaders getting into office without a basic education.

Arctic Sediments Show That 20th Century Warming Is Unlike Natural Variation

The possibility that climate change might simply be a natural variation like others that have occurred throughout geologic time is dimming, according to evidence in a Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences paper published October 19.

The research reveals that sediments retrieved by University at Buffalo geologists from a remote Arctic lake are unlike those seen during previous warming episodes.

The UB researchers and their international colleagues were able to pinpoint that dramatic changes began occurring in unprecedented ways after the midpoint of the twentieth century.

“The sediments from the mid-20th century were not all that different from previous warming intervals,” said Jason P. Briner, PhD, assistant professor of geology in the UB College of Arts and Sciences. “But after that things really changed. And the change is unprecedented.”

The sediments are considered unique because they contain rare paleoclimate information about the past 200,000 years, providing a far longer record than most other sediments in the glaciated portion of the Arctic, which only reveals clues to the past 10,000 years.  [see full article]

Conservatives Glad Chicago Lost the Olympic Bid

Their such a waste to this country!

They protest and take delight that Chicago didn’t win the Olympics because Our President spoke in favor of it?  If he hadn’t spoken in favor of it, I’m sure they wouldn’t have taken delight.  They’re pitiful, they want President Obama to fail as President and they are doing everything they can to prevent any of his policies to pass.  The Republican GOP and their fanatical religious right winged groups are useless to this countries progress.  They’ve had the White House and congress for at least eight years, and they did nothing but put American in debt in the trillions, took us to wars for alleged terrorist in a country that didn’t even hold Bin Laden along with more than 4000 US Soldiers killed, in the name of their conservatism.  The country’s infrastructure is falling apart, we have children who are going to bed hungry, and most of the homeless in America are veterans.  After eight years of Bush GOP conservatism we now have whole families that are homeless.

We voted for change in 2008, and now these conservative fanatical religious GOP groups are doing everything they possibly can to prevent any policy of President Obama’s to succeed.

What do they do for America, nothing.

Conservatives Delight In Olympic Snub To Obama

U.S. conservatives are celebrating like Brazilians after the failure of Chicago to win the 2016 Olympics despite the Copenhagen lobbying efforts of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama to bring home the gold, as it were.

And their joy seems only magnified by Chicago being dumped from the competition for the games after just the first round of voting.

The Great Exodus of the GOP

A lot of people left the party because they focused to much on peoples personal lives!  Social issues don’t have a part in the political party, this is American, and everyone has a different opinion on their own “moral” issues.  My morals are different than your morals, and just because mine are different than yours doesn’t make your morals better than mine, it’s just ridiculous!

If you want to worry about morals then go to your own religious background and practice it there, it shouldn’t be brought into the political parties.  I’m sad to see the GOPers do this to the Republican party because it’s NOT the party Lincoln founded.

I agree, with McCain’s mother and many others; in that people like Rush don’t represent the Republican party views.  Republican’s started adopting religious views in the 80’s, from my experience, and that’s why a lot of people left the party.  This is America, you can’t have a Party favoring one religion and ignoring the others in it’s stead, and that’s why, we, America have a time honored tradition of “Separation of Church and State” which the neo GOPers totally ignored.

When they say “conservatism” they are speaking about “fiscal” conservatism NOT your religious “conservatism.”
Keep your own religion to yourself, people shouldn’t be forced to abide by one religious doctrine, if other’s have an  interest in your particular brand, then they will ask you.

Caruso-Cabrera: Tweak Your Platform, GOP
More evidence of what’s wrong with the Republican party emerged this week with the Mark Sanford scandal. If you haven’t heard, the governor of South Carolina disappeared to who knows where this past week. (Now he says he was not on the Appalachian Trail but in Argentina.) He didn’t tell his wife or his staff, which has lead to all kinds of speculation that he is A: Having an affair; B: Having a nervous breakdown.

If the answer is A, you can add it to the long list of hypocritical actions by self-righteous Republicans. Insert here Senator John Ensign recently having to apologize for an affair.

The Republican Party insists that “American values” must be a core part of the platform. Their values of course; and yet values that many of them don’t adhere to. There are few crimes greater in America than hypocrisy.

Bring America Out of the Dark Ages!

Finally!  Hopefully this will bring America OUT of the Dark Ages!

Love this quote:  “We have watched as scientific integrity has been undermined and
scientific research politicized in an effort to advance predetermined
ideological agendas”
  – Barack Obama

We’re at least 30 years behind!  Can you believe that?  Many American’s made so many inventions, but left to build them in other countries because for some reason American’s became so fearful of Science and Progress!  Finally, an inteligetn thinker in the White House, once again…

Though, one problem, the GOP’ers keep holding back in congress, not because it’s the right thing to do, but because they are GOP’ers!  That’s it, just GOP’ers.

Hopefully, these new democrats can keep pushing forward in progress and bring us back out of this dark age some have brought upon us all…

Obama’s Unprecedented Commitment to Science

[Adapted from my piece originally published at Red, Green, and Blue] In a recent announcement, President Barack Obama reiterated his administration’s focus on science by promising a new level of commitment—one that would have the same intensity and urgency as that which put Americans on the moon—and stressing that “the days of science taking a back seat to ideology are over.”

“We have watched as scientific integrity has been undermined and scientific research politicized in an effort to advance predetermined ideological agendas,” said Mr. Obama.

Speaking at the 146th National Academy of Science annual meeting in Washington, D.C., Mr. Obama pledged to raise spending on research and development to more than three percent of the nation’s gross domestic product, an increase of approximately $46 billion annually. “This represents the largest commitment to scientific research and innovation in American history,” said the President.

The federal share of the proposed increase on scientific research and development is in the ballpark of $15 billion — $15 billion that is no easy sell in today’s tough economic climate.

“We have finally closed the books on the Bush era of climate denial once and for all,” said Carl Pope, Executive Director of the Sierra Club, in a Tuesday statement. “Science is allowed to lead and agencies like the Department of Interior and the Environmental Protection Agency are once again in the business of protecting the public and our planet,” Pope said in advance of President Obama’s 100th day in office on April 30.
